The bar used to live on the floor between sessions. It rolled when I set it down, it got kicked when I walked past, and the knurling picked up whatever was on the concrete.

This is a steel plate 9.7 in across with two cradles cut into it. The bar drops in sleeve first, hangs 2.8 in off the wall, and stays where you put it. Two plates on the same stud line hold four bars without taking a single square foot of floor.

The cradle opening is 1.3 in. That fits a standard Olympic or power bar sleeve. Before you drill, put a tape on the sleeve, not on the shaft: the shaft is thinner and will give you the wrong number.

Best for:

  • Garage gyms where the floor is already full
  • Standard Olympic and power bars with a 1.3 in sleeve
  • Walls with wood studs, block or concrete
  • Keeping bars off the ground so the knurling stays clean

Not ideal for:

  • Axle bars and thick specialty bars that do not fit a 1.3 in cradle
  • Loose plates or dumbbells. The cradle holds a bar, not a stack
  • Hollow drywall with no stud behind it
  • Anyone who needs a published load number. The maker does not give one

How to choose:

Count your bars first. One plate takes two, so a two-bar setup needs one plate and a four-bar corner needs two. Then check the sleeve: 1.3 in is the number that matters, and it is stamped on most bars or easy to measure with a caliper.

Mount both plates on the same stud line and keep 12 in or more between them so the plates on the bars do not knock together when you lift one out.

In the box:

One steel mount plate with two cradles and pre-drilled mounting holes. A drill, the right bit and screws for your wall are on you.
