Five knit sweaters on five hangers is five slots of rod. In a two-foot closet, that is most of your hanging space gone before you get to shirts.

This hanger stacks them vertically instead. One hook on the rod, five arms that swing out and down, one garment per arm. The same five sweaters now take one slot. It is 16.1 in (41 cm) wide when the arms are open and 16.5 in (42 cm) tall, so it clears a standard rod-to-shelf gap.

The arms are wrapped in foam, not bare wire. That matters for knits, because a thin wire hanger leaves a crease across a shoulder in one season. The foam spreads the load and the garment hangs from the rounded bar the way it would from a padded hanger.

When you want the rod space back, the arms fold flat against the frame and it sits in a few inches of depth. We keep one folded in the travel bag for hotel rooms.

It takes thin layers, not outerwear. Shirts, knits, scarves, camisoles, thin dresses. A puffer or a wool coat is too bulky for the arms to close around, and the maker does not publish a weight rating, so treat it as a light-layer tool.

Best for: a small closet, a dorm wardrobe, or a guest room where five things need to share one rod slot.

Not ideal for: coats, puffers, heavy bags, or anything that needs shoulder width to hang without folding.

How to choose: think in layers. Five thin garments per hanger. If your closet is mostly jackets, this is not the tool; if it is mostly shirts and knits, one hanger frees four slots.

In the box: one hanger with five foam-wrapped folding arms and a swivel top hook.
