The space under a shelf board usually goes to waste. This steel mesh basket hangs in that gap, so you can store rolls, jars, boxes, gloves and cables without drilling a single hole.

The slide-out version adjusts from 15.9 in to 25.5 in (40.5 to 64.8 cm) wide. The fixed version is 15.0 in wide. Both are 9.1 in deep and 5.5 in tall. The body is powder-coated carbon steel with an open mesh base and a solid steel rim.

It installs by hand. A flat rail slides over the front edge of the shelf board and the basket lifts on and off. No screws, no drill, no adhesive. The maker states the hanger suits shelf boards up to 1.2 in thick.

Where it works: pantry shelves, laundry shelves, office shelves and garage shelves with a straight front edge and a clear gap underneath. The open mesh keeps contents visible and lets dust fall through.

Not ideal for: shelf boards thicker than 1.2 in. Anything that needs a wall fixing, because this hangs from the shelf. Heavy loads, because the maker does not publish a load rating. Glass or open-front shelves that can tip, and thin hollow shelves.

How to choose: Measure the thickness of your shelf board. It must be 1.2 in or less. Measure the clear gap under the shelf. For the fixed version, you need 15.0 in of width. For the slide-out version, you need between 15.9 in and 25.5 in. Check that the shelf has a straight front edge and will not tip.

In the box: One under-shelf hanging basket. No tools or fixings are included, because none are needed. The maker does not publish a load rating for this product.
