A duvet is the one thing that never dries properly. Fold it over a line and you get a wet crease down the middle that stays damp for a day. This spiral rack hangs from the rod you already have. You thread the duvet through the coil so it is held open in rings. Air gets in between the layers instead of only at the edges. When you are done it hangs flat against the wall, out of the way.

Best for: duvets, comforters, quilts and blankets. A closet rod, balcony rail or drying line you already have. Air drying the filling instead of baking it in a machine dryer.

Not ideal for: duvets that still need a tumble dryer to finish. A rod already carrying coats or heavy laundry. Tension shower rods that were only meant to hold a curtain. Duvets much wider than the coil, which slide off the ring.

How to choose: The coil measures 16.5 in across at its widest. Fold your duvet in half and compare. If it is much wider than the coil it will slide off. The rod needs to be empty and sturdy before you hang a damp duvet on it, and the maker publishes no load rating for the rack itself.

In the box: one spiral drying rack, made from 7.2 ft of coated metal tube wound into a 16.5 in coil. Tube thickness is 0.39 in and the whole rack weighs about 0.66 lb. Ends are capped and rounded. It hangs by a hook at the top, so there is nothing to drill and nothing to assemble.
