This is a slim steel back plate with a magnetic base and ABS hooks. You press it onto a steel door, a locker, the side of a fridge or freezer, and it stays put with no screws, no brackets, no drilling. If you rent, or your entryway is basically a door and a coat pile, that matters. Each hook position has an upper and a lower arm, so one rack gives you twice the hanging points.

Best for: coats, bags and backpacks, keys and lanyards, umbrellas, hats, dog leads, aprons and towels. Entryways, mudrooms, laundry rooms, workshops, dorms and rented flats where you cannot drill. It also works on a steel locker, a filing cabinet, or the side of a washer.

Not ideal for: wood, laminate, MDF, glass, mirror or painted drywall, because magnets do not hold on those. Curved, ribbed, textured or fabric-wrapped surfaces are out too. Keep the load light. The supplier rates the whole rack at 2.2–6.6 lb. And if you need to close the door over a thick frame, skip it, there is nothing to hook over, it is magnetic.

How to choose: measure the steel surface first. The 4-hook plate is 12.6 in long and gives 8 hanging points. The 5-hook is 16.1 in and gives 10. The 6-hook is 19.7 in and gives 12. Plate height is 2.2 in, overall height 3.5 in, hook spacing 3.5 in, and each hook reaches 2.0 in out from the plate. Before you buy, test the spot with a fridge magnet. If it does not stick, this rack will not either.

In the box: one magnetic hook rack. No screws, no brackets, no wall plugs, nothing else to install. Colors: gunmetal grey or cream white.
