Most desks have one drawer that collects cables and nothing else. Open it and you get a pocket of empty space sitting exactly where your keyboard wants to be.

This board rests across that open drawer on two steel brackets, so the space above the drawer turns into desk. The keyboard comes off the desktop, the mouse gets room next to it, and you stop working with your wrists hanging over the edge of a table that was never quite wide enough.

It folds at the middle. Lift it off, fold it flat, and the drawer goes back to being a drawer. There are no screws going into the underside of your desk and no tray rails to line up.

How to choose: measure the clear width of the drawer front, then take the length that covers it. 21.7 in (55 cm) takes a keyboard with a mouse beside it. 25.6 in (65 cm) is the middle. 29.5 in (75 cm) leaves room for a keyboard plus a notebook. Depth is 7.9 in (20 cm) on all three, which is a standard keyboard plus a wrist rest.

Best for: narrow home-office desks, small flats, rented places where you would rather not put screws into the furniture, and anyone who wants the desktop left clear for a monitor.

Not ideal for: drawers more shallow than 7.9 in (20 cm), filing cabinets with a lip that runs the full width, or a setup where you plan to lean your whole body weight on the board. The maker does not publish a load rating, so there is no weight figure on this page.

In the box: one folding board, with the steel mounting brackets the maker pairs with it. The board is MDF with a wood-grain surface, in walnut, white or black, at 21.7 in (55 cm), 25.6 in (65 cm) and 29.5 in (75 cm).
