The shelf edge has a lip, so envelopes do not slide off when the door slams.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt sits 3.9 in (10 cm) off the wall, which is shallow enough that you do not brush it with your shoulder in a narrow hallway, and deep enough for a stack of letters.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTwo ways to put it up. The adhesive pads go on tile, glass, painted drywall or a metal door, no drilling. Screws go into studs or a wooden door frame if you would rather not trust glue. Both sets come in the box.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFrame is powder coated metal, shelf is bamboo. The factory does not publish a weight rating for the rack, so I am not going to invent one. Treat the hooks as daily-carry hooks: keys, leash, a light bag. You need 14 in of width and 4 in of depth, plus a flat surface if you are going the adhesive route.
